Comment by periblepsis on The reference node

physicsae, There's a tag called "nodal analysis" that is attached to your question. You don't write much. But are you looking, specifically, for the application of nodal analysis to this problem? If...

Comment by periblepsis on how does the Phase shift oscillator work in this...

Hassan, start all analysis by setting down and redrawing the schematic. (It looks old.) For example, what is the 2k resistor doing with the lm313? What does this mean for q3's emitter? What does that...

Comment by periblepsis on Struggling to understand how a JK flip flop can...

@Javaxtreme Just a question from a quick glance at the circuit. The JK is being operated with both J and K tied together. This means that this FF either toggles or else holds its value depending on the...

Answer by periblepsis for Wrong solution to a short RISC-V exercise

do you have to wait for completion of WB?We are told that a RISC-V exercise with no data forwarding executes theinstruction add x3,x2,x1, followed by sw x3, 16(x8).My answer was the following: | 1 2 3...

Comment by periblepsis on A circuit to dim an LED whenever it gets dark

@JoeyB LDRs have a non-linear behavior with expect to irradiance. Human brightness sensations in brighter conditions are based solely on one and only one of our cone cells. (The rod cells are...

Comment by periblepsis on How to determine the amount of electric current in...

@TenggaArlan I picked (and you can pick something different) the bottom wire in your schematic as \$0\:\text{V}\$. Seemed the easier thing to do.

Comment by periblepsis on Why this source transformation leads to different...

It probably doesn't matter. The Thevenin pair is in series so the resistor can be placed (swapped around) on either end of V3 without impacting the rest of the circuit.

Answer by periblepsis for how does the Phase shift oscillator work in this...

Here's the schematic, redrawn in one fashion:simulate this circuit– Schematic created using CircuitLabWhat makes this more useful is that it is now much clearer how the RC phase shift passive staging...

Comment by periblepsis on Preset logic for Flip-Flop down counters. How can I...

@SimonFitch That's why you use a 7476 in a discrete system requiring a known power-up state. (As I did when building my first computer in 1974.)

Comment by periblepsis on Why this source transformation leads to different...

Hopefully this communicates well to the OP. It touches everything needed, including the specific details about LTspice and the sign of the value it reports for resistors. Nice!

I'll add a personal experience, prior to changes/improvements that followed 9/11 in the US. I brought along my NaI scintillation unit. I took some readings before take-off, at home, and then again when...

Comment by periblepsis on How to understand the formula of carryout in...

What's the ISBN? What's the page number? I see something similar in an appendix. But it is obviously not chapter 8.5. So I'm curious exactly which edition this is.

Comment by periblepsis on Generating -3 V Vbb for an ailing Amiga Alice chip...

What current did you measure from your -3 V supply when you used the bench supply and everything was working nicely? Also, is there any way you can provide a link to a schematic of this system?...

Comment by periblepsis on How to understand the formula of carryout in...

@Bbbbbunn2023 It was just their own short-hand way of writing, looking over the shortened table. Look at the first entry. Then look down at the last entry. So \$\text{a}\cdot\text{CarryIn}\$ certainly...

The superposition theorem is just another way of thinking about things. I almost never care to use it for the reason you mention.

Comment by periblepsis on Why do we typically think about circuits with nodes...

Both meshes (aka KVL) and nodal (aka KCL) are simultaneously present in a graph theoretic approach (big-picture, linear algebra.) A matrix is also a transformation from one space to another space....
