As Justme writes, though I have issues with the choice of wording, it's due to \$\frac{V_{\small{L}}}{L}=\frac{\text{d}I_{\small{L}}}{\text{d}t}\$ --> The larger the voltage difference applied across the inductance, the faster the current can decline.
